Our AGM is always lovely

Most AGMs are rather dull - not ours. Plenty of discussion and ideas and new volunteers - thank you to those that have - more welcome!

We had a chance to see our lovely Pearl Anniversary (yes we have been a group for 30 years) quilt as it is coming together. It will be on display at The Festival of Quilts at the NEC in August. We like the front AND the back!

Thanks to all who brought food and good ideas as well as quilts to show and tell.

Quilt As You Go Collaboration - a success!

What a marvellous evening last night!

We had fantastic and productive 'Quilt as you go' fun and games, putting together the Pearl Anniversary quilt - and thank you to everyone who had made a block to be included.

This is a Group Quilt that so many people have contributed to in different ways and it was wonderful seeing everyone working together with such gusto. The evening reminded us of how exactly the piecing of a quilt as you go quilt works. It seems complicated until you are shown.

We have put some images on our Facebook page including a glimpse of how the quilt will look when finished, so if you were not able to be with us on Wednesday evening, do have a look and LIKE the page at the top of it for further updates.

All being well the quilt should feature in the group category at The Festival Of Quilts at the NEC in August.

Below is Janet Bevan with her beautiful elephant quilt which is now complete.

Also here are the lovely Biscornu pincushions which Carole Auden taught us to make a few weeks ago

Gilli Theokritoff's Workshop

A productive time was had by all at the workshop last Saturday working with various foiling techniques.
This workshop was the follow up to Gill's lecture recently to the group (see previous post).

Thank you Gilli - and hopefully we will see you again soon!

Gilli Theokritoff's talk

On March 18th we were thrilled to have Gilli Theokritoff to come to speak about her quilting and methods.
She brought a plentiful supply of quilts for us to marvel at and recounted to us her quilting journey.

All of us were enthralled with her "David" quilt and were eager to hear about her method of construction and patience! It's made from 1" squares of fabric!!

Also here's a reminder of Gill Biel's wonderful Wild Women brooch workshop in February

The next meeting, which is on Wednesday 1st April, will consist of a mini-workshop kindly put on by Carole Auden.  You should have already received an email directly from Carole with the requirements list.
It is also time to pass on your Row Robin to the next person on the rota.  If you cannot attend the meeting, please make private arrangements to organise the transfer.
